| Lyon visits Bush for World AIDS Day

On Friday November 30, President Bush invited a small group of individuals representing organizations that are serving those affected by AIDS for a round table discussion in honor of World AIDS Day. The group gathered at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Mount Airy, Maryland. The President listened as each invitee shared stories of what they have seen of tragedy and hope. Following their meeting, the President addressed the nation at a press conference. During his speech he commended the good work of these individuals and organizations. The White House is working with Congress to renew the Ryan White Care Act and the President pointed to the success of the Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief. He encouraged the invitees to continue their good work, saying “Faith-based groups like these are the foot soldiers in the armies of compassion. They are changing behavior by changing hearts -- and they are helping to defeat this epidemic one soul at a time.”
