Barry Black Addresses WHI
World
Hope International welcomed Chaplain of the United States
Senate Barry Black as keynote speaker at the organization’s
spring dinner in conjunction with its biannual board of
directors meeting on Friday, March 28, in Alexandria, VA.
“We need to face our future with praise,” he
said to the crowd of WHI board members, employees, and guests.
Chaplain Black reminded the guests to “sing
the Lord’s song in a strange land.” He said
we should not allow circumstances to rob us of joy despite
challenges we might face because a sovereign God’s
mission cannot be thwarted. He stressed the importance of
intercessory prayer and bringing illumination to the world
even in their lowest point. He went on to reinforce the
importance of walking the journey of life praising God no
matter the circumstances in your life. Chaplain Black told
several stories of his work in the US Senate and stayed
after the event ended to speak with WHI representatives
and sign copies of his book, "From the Hood to the
Hill".
Chaplain Black served in the US Navy for twenty-seven
years, ending his distinguished career as the Chief of Navy
Chaplains. On June 27, 2003, Rear Admiral Barry C. Black
was elected the 62nd Chaplain of the Senate.
