WHI
Joins Women, Faith and Development Alliance
World
Hope International (WHI) has joined as a member of
the Women, Faith and Development Alliance (WFDA).
WFDA is a unique partnership of internationally focused
faith, development and women’s organizations
dedicated to engendering global efforts to reduce
poverty by increasing political will and action to
increase investments in women’s and girl’s
empowerment around the world.
WFDA was initially formed in 2006 to establish an advocacy
agenda promoting women’s rights and sustainable
development in the developing world. The alliance
has quickly grown to include 80 organizations and
is taking new steps to raise its profile and spread
its message.
As a part of this outreach effort, WHI is participating in
the organization and launch of WFDA’s international
action and advocacy campaign at BREAKTHROUGH:
The Women, Faith and Development Summit to End
Global Poverty in Washington, DC, April 13-15,
2008. The conference will be a highly-visible gathering
where world leaders, heads of denominations and faith
groups, CEOs of development organizations and corporate
leaders will commit to a global agenda of action and
advocacy favorable to women and girls.
