The Impact of the Reach4Life Program
By
Vusi Mahlangu, Reaach4Life Coordinator in South Africa
When
someone’s parent or other family member dies
of AIDS, they lose their dignity and hope because
of the stigma that surrounds the disease. This is
especially true for children and teenagers because
they don’t have parents to encourage them, and
they need to work to provide for themselves. They
have very few options, and are often very desperate.
For instance, I know
a 20-year old girl who takes care of her siblings
because their parents died of AIDS. She became a prostitute
just so that she can have enough money to provide
for herself and her younger brothers and sisters.
After we launched, Reach4Life at her school, she came
up to me and said, “I’m tired of living
like this and I want to change.”
Reach4Life has influenced many people like this girl
in our country, and I wish to see young people in
our communities know Christ and have a relationship
with Him. I want to see them live pure lives and have
respect for themselves even when they are surrounded
by people who don’t show them respect.

sexual revolution that’s going to stop the spread
of HIV/AIDS!
